Indonesia's second largest telecoms firm, PT Indosat Tbk, launched third generation mobile phone services (3G) on November 29, the third company to offer the service in Southeast Asia's largest economy.
Guntur Siboro, a senior marketing official at Indosat, said the firm had rolled out 3G services in Indonesia's two largest cities, Jakarta and Surabaya, and will expand to eight other cities in the first quarter of next year.
"The amount of investment needed for those 10 cities is $40 million. For the target of number of subscribers we cannot say that yet at this stage," Siboro said.
