Tevta Special Training Programme (TSTP) launched by Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) is a manifestation of our commitment for the promotion of technical education in the province, said Chairman Tevta Khalid Mahmood.
He was addressing a seminar about awareness of Tevta Special Training Programme (TSTP), organised by Tevta District Management Lahore in collaboration with industrial sector, here on Monday.
Under TSTP, Khalid said that Tevta at its selected Institutes would impart training to 100,000 semi-skilled workers in four phases within a period of one year. More than 25,000 successful trained manpower of first phase has already been employed in the industry, he added.
While explaining the objectives of the said programme, he said, the purpose of TSTP is to meet the emerging demand of skilled workers for industry, enhance employability of youth through skill training, target to train unemployed youth belonging to lower-income group of the society in employable skills and provision of jobs to adjust them by turning to be useful member of society by utilising available facilities at existing Tevta Institutions.
On the occasion, chairman said, industry plays an important role in the economic development of any country and the said role of the industry is not possible without trained manpower. Keeping in view the ever-increasing requirements of the industry, TEVTA has implemented TSTP to train 100,000 semi-skilled workers throughout the province. He also referred to the important role played by prominent industrialists, and lauded their co-operation and assistance for successful completion of TSTP.
While addressing the seminar, President Tevta Board of Management Lahore and industrialist Mohsin M. Syed appreciated the efforts made by the authority to meet the requirements of the industry. He further said that employment opportunities through TSTP would be easily available, and resultantly economy of the province would become stronger after these trained semi-skilled workers are employed.
The industrialists representing automobile industry, light engineering, electronics, textile, spinning, weaving, printing, pharmaceutical, Atlas Honda, Sephire Textile, PEL, Pakistan Mint, Mobilink, Askari Bank, Schazoo Laboratory, State Bank of Pakistan attended the seminar and extended their co-operation by sharing their views for placement of trained manpower. Toufiq Sherwani of S.T. Engineering assured his full support to Tevta for organising such seminars in future.
