Sindh Chief Minister, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that Circular Railway project will provide added commuting facilities to Karachiites. Talking to media, after a meeting held to discuss KCR project at Chief Minister House which was also attended by Federal Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.
The chief minister said the project will cost over $872 million and Japan has agreed to provide the loan on a very low mark-up. He said this loan would be paid back in 40 years with 50 percent share to be provided by the Federal Government. Dr Arbab said the KCR system will have 50-km long track including 6-km under-ground, 10 Km elevated track besides double track from airport to Sharea Faisal.
To a question, he said the project would be completed under the supervision of Pakistani railway experts. The project will have the assistance of federal and provincial as well as city governments. Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman attended the meeting among others besides senior railway officials.
