The District Nazim Hyderabad Kanwar Naveed Jamil has said that main purpose of constitution of district monitoring committees (DMC) was to maintain check and balance over the government organisations to ensure efficient utilisation of government resources and effective deliveries to the people of the district.
This he said while presiding over meeting of all chairmen of district monitoring committees at Zila Nazim Secretariat Hyderabad on Wednesday. Zila Naib Nazim Hyderabad Zaffar Rajput, DCO Hyderabad Muhammad Hussain Syed, all EDOs and officers of district government Hyderabad attended the meeting.
The Zila Nazim asked all the chairmen and members of district monitoring committees to fixed their targets with the consultation of EDOs of concerned departments and prepare feasible strategy in such a way so that efficient deliveries could be ensured for the people. He said that he would review the strategy of each monitoring committee through individual meeting with them after one week.
He said that each government officer and elected representative was responsible to serve the people without any discrimination with honesty but it has been observed that officials were not delivering their services at the par of private institutions. As such here at this stage, the role of public representatives starts to detect the negligence and submit their report to him for streamlining of government departments. He said that the purpose of meeting was to review over the performance of monitoring committees and prepare strategy for future. He said that monitoring committees were also required to see whether the departmental targets fixed by the district government and district council Hyderabad have been achieved or not and to submit their reports to him and the district council as well for the decisions and debate. He also asked them to fix targets of their assignments and do periodical implementation to achieve the goals easily.
He said that though district government Hyderabad has the strength of 25,000 staff and it is difficult to monitor them but this task could be achieved through effective management and distribution of work by the monitoring committees.
He said that being a Nazim or public representative was not a privilege but responsibility to serve the people who elected them for the purpose.
The Zila Naib Nazim Hyderabad Zaffar Rajput who was also the convenor of the Zila Council Hyderabad shared the bottlenecks experienced by him and the members of the district council Hyderabad and said that since last year district council Hyderabad has passed various resolutions but never received any business from the department of district government who were suppose to aware council about their targets and added that the officers of district government didn't bother to attend the council sessions properly.
