Iranian motorcar manufacturers on Wednesday expressed interest in entering into joint ventures with the Pakistani investors in general and of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) of Pakistan in particular.
The Iranian automobile manufacturers and Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) Peshawar had also agreed on holding an exhibition of Iran manufactured vehicles including motorcars, CNG buses and trucks in the provincial metropolis.
These matters were agreed during a visit of an Iranian delegation comprising executive director, Moga Motorcars Manufacturing Company of Iran, engineer Jawad Najmuddin, executive director, Gama Automobiles, Jawad Khais Mehr, engineer Muqqadas Jaffery, commercial consular of Iran and other officials of the office of Consul General here.
Those who represented Sarhad Chamber during the meeting were including engineer Zahid Arif, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi, Arshad Siddiqui, Mohammad Amin Mohmand, Nadeem Rauf, Sharafat Ali Mubarak and others while member of the executive Haji Mohammad Asif presided.
Talking to members of the Sarhad Chamber, the Iranian delegates informed that the annual production of their firm was 0.5 million motorcars, which they said were better in both quality and price than those manufactured in other countries of the world.
They said that due to rampant increase in the prices of petroleum products, Iran is promoting the usage of CNG in vehicles and very soon their country would have at least 0.3 million units of the commodity.
The Iranian automobile manufacturers expressed interest in export of CNG buses, trucks, CNG units and auto-parts to Pakistan. Both sides also agreed on holding an exhibition of motorcars manufactured in Iran in Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Haji Mohammad Asif invited Iranian investors for making investment in hydropower generation, marble & granite, mines & minerals and other potential sectors and urged on them to take benefit of the incentives announced by the government in this regard. He also stressed for exchange of trade delegations and promotion of trade with Iran and Muslims countries and other neighbouring countries of the region.
Those addressed the meeting were also including Engineer Zahid Arif, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi and Sharafat Ali Mubarak and briefed Iranian investors regarding trade and industries in the province.
