Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) is making adequate efforts to promote women entrepreneurship in the city, said Chairperson of SCCI Departmental Committee on Women Entrepreneurs Shabnam Asif.
Talking to Business Recorder here on Wednesday, she said that the steps had been taken to enable womenfolk to show their capabilities and play an instrumental role in economic activities.
She was of the opinion that womenfolk had great potentials and could play due role in different sectors, including business. Shabnam said the SCCI was taking steps to create awareness among women about starting independent businesses and providing them a forum for expressing their viewpoints.
She said that special attention had been focused on compiling database of final year female students of M Com, B Com and other subjects like statistic and economics.
Women community of Sialkot, she said, was highly educated and was capable to demonstrate their ability not only in business sector, but also in other fields more easily.
Earlier, it was decided by committee that a seminar would be arranged next month to develop interaction and close contacts with womenfolk of the area. SCCI President Abdul Waheed Sandal and ex-President Dr Nouman Idris Butt also expressed their views, and stressed the need for activating the departmental committee on women entrepreneur for increasing the number of membership.
