The Consul General of Japan in Karachi, Shoichi Nakano, on Thursday presented about 40 books for the library of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi, on Thursday.
A ceremony to this effect was held at the library of the institute's main campus, under the auspices of the Japan Cultural Centre of the Consulate General of Japan in Karachi. The Consul General of Japan in Karachi donated these books on behalf of the Japan Foundation Library Support Programme.
The books covered various subjects like finance, business administration, politics, history, law etc and will be beneficial in understanding the Japanese economic and social system. The Japan Foundation in the previous years donated 162 books to IBA and this year donating 38 books, which added to a total of 200 books.
Speaking on the occasion, the Consul General of Japan lauded the standard of the IBA Karachi and described it as a leading institution of business education. He said that these books would be beneficial for the students as well as help in fostering understanding about Japan and its system.
The Director of Institute of Business Administration, Danishmand, while thanking the Japan Foundation for this valuable donation, pointed out that a `Japan' corner has been set up at the library of IBA's main campus. Danishmand pointed out that a Japanese professor, Mr Fujita, has been teaching at Institute of Business Administration Karachi for the past one and a half years. He was sponsored by JICA.
He said that Pakistan and Japan have various common values and that we need to learn from Japan especially in work style, managing business and punctuality etc.
