The female students of Government Polytechnic Institute for Women, Bahawalpur have urged Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to order for the cancellation of the Tevta decision according to which the self-financed classes of B-Com started only a year before will be closed.
Girl students and their parents said that co-education system could not prevail in our society due to our religious and social set up, so separate classes for girls and boys at higher level were essential to promote education and provide more chances of education to girls.
The girl students further said that if government could not afford to open new institutes then it would be better to start the commerce classes at any existing institute for the better future of girls as the technical, science, commerce and professional education had become more important for women after the increase of quota for ladies in the government service.
