Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) police have caught a gang involved in stealing underground cables, valued Rs 0.5 million from Mowach Goth during a mid-night operation.
According to KESC press release, the raiding team headed by DSP Chaudhry Munir arrested three persons and recovered stolen cables, heavy duty cutters and tools used in digging and cutting extra high tension (EHT) cables. The KESC police received creditable information that some suspicious people were busy in cutting underground cables laid by KESC in Mowach Goth.
The police rushed to the spot where three culprits were busy in cutting underground cables with heavy duty cutters while a truck No JU-2680 displaying board "on KESC duty" was parked at the site.
The police called the local KESC staff for technical assistance and arrested three labours namely Fida, Jehanzeb and Nabi-ur-Rehman, whereas truck driver Shakeel, who was identified as ringleader, managed to escape from the scene. -PR
