athar-osamaKARACHI: A Pakistani scholar Athar Osama has won the World Technology Network (WTN) award for Science and Innovation Media and Journalism at the UN Building, New York on Wednesday. He is the first Pakistani to receive this award.

Osama was short-listed for the award as announced in a press release by WTN on September 5, 2011.

Known for his pioneering work on introducing and popularising ideas of science and innovation policy through journalism, Osama's vision is to promote Muslim science through his website Muslim-Science.Com.

He has been writing on science and innovation policy themes for leading English newspapers in Pakistan since 1992, and later in international journals and for the net.

The scholar said that the launch of Muslim-Science.Com was only the beginning.

The awards were distributed on October 25-26, 2011, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
