Pakistan''s tax officials are likely to visit Large Taxpayer Units (LTUs) of developed countries for acquiring firsthand knowledge of the best practices, to be incorporated in the reformed tax structure of the country.
Sources told Business Recorder on Sunday that the World Bank (WB) has asked the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) to visit LTU at Budapest and study the taxation systems of Australia and New Zealand, practically, relating to large tax paying units in these countries. Tax officials will visit Hungary where the Budapest LTU went through revamping, similar to Pakistan, a few years ago.
From among the developed countries, the WB has suggested Australia and New Zealand, as Pakistan''s tax system is based on UK model. However, the LTUs in Mexico and Argentina are not well organised as compared to those countries mentioned above, the WB added.
