Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri has said that Pakistan has not backed out from its principled stance on Kashmir but has put forth an alternative idea under the condition that India should also abandon its stated position.
In an interview with a private TV channel he said both Pakistan and India are now convinced that they could not afford any more war as all previous war did not yield any outcome at all.
He said, "Now it is the turn of Indian Prime Minister to visit Pakistan to help early resolution of all our disputes".
When his attention was drawn towards the possibility of Kashmiri leadership participation in the peace talks between Pakistan and India then Foreign Minster said Pakistan wants Kashmiri leadership to be a party in the talks, so far India is not prepared for the purpose. Pakistan is continuing to convince India to include Kashmiris in the dialogue, he added.
To another query whether President Pervez Musharraf or Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz would represent the country in the coming Saarc summit, Kasuri said Pakistan has yet not decided it, any of the two dignitaries could attend the summit to be held in New Delhi in April.
The Foreign Minister said, "There is a considerable improvement in our relations as no one could have imagined that Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) leaders would be meeting the India President and Prime Minster and the leaders of Hurriyat Conference would be visiting AJK."
