The Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has released a special grant of Rs 12.4 million for the early launch of the Emergency Health Services in the district on top priority basis.
EDO (Health) Dr Umer Javaid Gul and DO (Health) Dr Javaid Warraich told the newsmen, that the emergency health services would be started soon in the district.They said that the well-equipped Trauma Center would soon start functioning in govt Allama Iqbal Memorial DHQ Hospital, as the needed furniture has been purchased with total cost of Rs 0.776 million. They said as many as 59 posts of doctors and paramedical staffs have also been created for this Trauma Center with the estimated expenditures of Rs 11.039 million.
The district government has sent a feasibility report regarding the establishment of a Burn Unit at this hospital to Punjab government for the final approval of this project. The projects of Trauma Center and Burn Unit would be helpful in providing the advanced medical and health facilities to the people of Sialkot district at local level, they added.
EDO health said that as many as 25 health sector development schemes have been completed in Sialkot district with total cost of Rs 197.266 million under district health department's annual development programme.
