National Tuberculosis Control Programme (NTP) under the Ministry of Health Pakistan, monitored by WHO, has started its full support diagnostic units from treatment to cure TB patients and now urging patients to get registered themselves for full scale-treatment.
Addressing the media Dr Hassan Sadiq, National Manager for NTP said, "We are very much pleased to the government for their untiring support and a huge grant of rupees one billion to fight TB.
Once the people are aware they will realise the threat earlier and will go to our diagnostic centres at initial stages of TB and certainly this will lower the ratio of uncured patients".
On the occasion Dr Iqtidar, Provincial Director NTP, informed the media about the development of programme in Sindh. He said, "In Sindh, we have more number of cured patients as compared to other provinces. Last year we registered nearly 60 percent patients in the province and out of this 85 percent patients were cured, which is the highest ratio among the other regions of the country".
The meeting was largely attended by the media persons and Dr Raja Ayub and Dr Ismat of Karachi region for NTP were also there, says a press release.-PR
