Commodore Abbas Raza has been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral with immediate effect, says a notification issued by Naval Headquarters here on Monday.
Rear Admiral Abbas Raza joined Pakistan Navy in June 1973. He got commission in the Operations Branch in 1975 and won the coveted sword of honour.
He did his Staff Course from Royal Navy Staff College Greenwich UK and is graduate of national Defence College.
He has held various command and staff appointments, including command of two Guided Missile Destroyer PNS Badr, Tippu Sultan and Commander Missile Boat Squadron. He has also held appointment of Air and Naval Attaché in Paris. At Naval Headquarters, he was assigned the duties of Principal Secretary to Chief of the Naval Staff.
Presently, he is performing staff duties in Inter Services Organisation. He is recipient of Sitara-I-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-I-Imtiaz (Military).
