NWFP Minister for Health Inayatullah has disclosed that 500 hepatitis patients were being provided free treatment under the endowment fund at Lady Ready Hospital Peshawar while required doses of vaccine had already been procured for them.
He said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of MRI machine newly installed under endowment fund at Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar on Monday. Chief Minister NWFP Muhammad Akram Khan Durrani was chief guest of the ceremony. Chief Executive KTH Dr Changez Hakim Khan and Project Director Endowment Fund, Professor Inayat Roghani also spoke on the occasion.
The Health Minister said under the endowment fund, establishment of pharmacy shops at Hayatabad Medical Complex and Khyber Teaching Hospital were in final stages. He informed that shops will start functioning within a month.
He further said establishment of a standard diagnostic laboratory under the fund was also in the pipeline.
He said government had provided Rs 230 million up till now while Rs 100 million was in pipeline. He appealed to the Chief Minister to issue directives for immediate release of Rs 100 million. He also demanded of the Chief Minister to provide the rest of the amount for the fund so that the planned activities under the project could be initiated.
The Health Minister also demanded funds for the renovation and repair of Khyber Teaching Hospital.
It is pertinent to mention that latest MRI machine 1.5 tesla had been recently installed at Khyber Teaching Hospital at a cost of Rs 74 million. The machine is providing diagnostic facilities to the patients at concession rates right from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm daily.
