The two-member delegation comprising Director Business Development, Ms. Linda McCormack and Dr Shabbar Jaffry, Director Postgraduate Programme in Economics of the Portsmouth University of the United Kingdom agreed to develop academic links in business management studies with the GC University.
The delegation expressed its consent during a meeting with the GC University vice-chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Aftab on Monday.
During the meeting, Ms. Linda briefed the vice-chancellor about the sea front location, historic importance and various programmes going on in the university and its schools. Portsmouth Business School was opened in 2004 by Governor of the Bank of England with the cost of 12 million pounds, she said: adding, the purpose of her visit to Pakistan was to articulate agreements for collaborative partnerships, initiation of overseas collaborative academic programmes and professional development for managers. She also said that Portsmouth Business School attracts the number of students every year at under-graduate, post graduate and doctoral level across a broad range of subject areas as it has dynamic faculty with a strong reputation in research, teaching and collaborative programs, she claimed. She also hoped cooperation with Pakistani institutions to strengthen academic links at the graduation, post graduation or doctoral level.
Dr Khalid Aftab appreciated the UK varsity representative for showing interest for future academic collaboration of their varsity with the GCU Lahore. He briefed the delegation about the glorious traditions of the university and its liberal educational atmosphere.
