The Sindhi Association of North America (Sana) has expressed solidarity with the indigenous communities and called upon government to immediately halt the work at the twin islands off Karachi, cancel its agreement with the foreign firm, and desist from the encroachment on provincial lands.
'We also request the civil society leadership to oppose the unjust policies of the central government. We urge the management of the 'Emmar Group' to call off its plans, as it has obviously entered into an agreement with a party that has no legal rights over the land. If they go ahead with their plans, they may have to face litigation in national and international courts--for years to come,' said Aziz Narejo, President of Sana, in a release mailed to press from US on Tuesday.
