The Frontier Constabulary (FC) and Citizen Foundation, a Pakistan based organisation, on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for promotion of education in areas bordering the impoverished tribal belt.
The Commandant Frontier Constabulary, Malik Naveed Khan and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the foundation signed the MoU in this regard. Under the agreement 11 schools for educating 200 children each will be constructed on FC lands bordering tribal areas.
The first school established under the agreement would start functioning in September this year at Oghi. The fee structure of these schools would be very low (up to Rs 100 per month) and free uniform will also be provided to the children.
To back up this initiative, the Commandant Frontier Constabulary has also offered land to the Citizen Foundation for setting up of a lady teachers' training centre.
These initiatives taken for the promotion of education will not only benefit the children of the FC personnel, but will be open to the general public especially low income groups who will benefit from these schools by getting quality education.
In later stage, the Frontier Constabulary has planned to construct two hostels for the children of the FC personnel living in tribal areas, which will give exposure to the children in addition to providing quality education.
The places where these schools will be set up are Aimal Chabutra, near FR Peshawar, Bara near Khyber Agency, Michni Shabqadar and Matta near Mohmand Agency, Oghi near Kala Dhaka, Bannu near North Waziristan, Tank, Manzai and Darazinda near South Waziristan and FR DI Khan.
