The government employees would continue to draw washing and dress allowances at the same rate as they were drawing these allowances before the introduction of revised basic pay scales scheme 2005.
This was clarified by Finance Department during the course of a complaint before the Provincial Ombudsman. A complaint was filed by Muhammad Aslam a security guard of a government school. He contended that for the last 12 years he had been getting dress and washing allowances but was not getting for the last three months.
The Finance Department in its reply to the complaint contended that dress and washing allowances were sanctioned to security guards on July 1990. However, in the revised pay scales introduced with effect from July 2005, Naib Qasids, Qasids, Daftris, Farashes, Chowkidars and Sweepers had been sanctioned integrated allowance @ Rs 150 per month and dress and washing allowances admissible to these employees had been abolished.
The Finance Department clarified that integrated allowance at the rate of Rs 150 per month is admissible to Naib Qasids, Qasids, Daftirs, Farsahes, Chowkidars, Sweepers and Sweeperess in lieu of washing and dress allowances with effect from July 2005.
