ICI, the world's largest producers of paints and speciality products, and one of the biggest supporters of community development programme in Pakistan, signed an agreement with the British Council, highlighting their commitment to the development of human capital in Pakistan, said a press release here on Thursday.
Under the agreement, ICI and the British Council would work to further develop the role of ICI Pakistan-British Council Management Center in the area of management capacity building through a number of developmental and profile-building activities in Pakistan, the statement added.
It said the signing of this MoU would initiate a new era for management capacity development in the country, with ICI and the British Council focusing on producing co-branded MDS promotional literature, future purchases of management resources from the UK, and the provision of an annual scholarship to the UK for selected ICI managers.
Marcus Gilbert, Director of the British Council said this initiative would add a new dimension to managerial capacity development in Pakistan, going a long way towards mentoring, as well as providing professional scholarships and internships in Pakistan and the UK.
The statement further said the agreement would also enable ICI management staff to avail discounts on management development services-run public courses, as well as receive preferential rates on MDS in-house training.
The partnership aims at facilitating ICI group in gaining memberships of UK bodies such as the CMI (Management), CIM (Marketing), CIPD (HR) and IOD (Institute of Directors), as well as waiving ICI-BC Management Center annual fees for up to 50 ICI managers.
Waqar A Malik, CE of ICI Pakistan Limited said their corporate social responsibility had been one of the major motivations behind this agreement with the British Council.-PR
