PEMRA calls for an all-out ban on Amir Liaquat
PEMRA (Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority) has issued a notification on Thursday, banning the entertainer/TV personality, Amir Liaquat and his show 'Aisay Nahi Chalay Ga' on BOL News due to hate speech and slander.
According to the press release by PEMRA, Amir Liaquat is not to host any program or appear in any manner on TV (fresh, old or repeat) including - but not limited to - as a guest, analyst, reporter, actor, in audio, video beeper, promo/advertisement of his program or in person in any manner, on BOL News screen or any other TV channel with immediate effect.
PEMRA further added that failure of the BOL News management to comply with the said regulations would result in the suspension of the channel's license. The notification issued comes as a forbiddance for Amir Liaquat from labeling any one Kaafir or Ghaddar -- as he did so, on his show -- according to the constitution of Pakistan; as the right to do so only lies with the Superior Judiciary or the parliament.
Furthermore, PEMRA also stated that in pertinence to the above-stated hate speech, it had received a myriad of complaints, which it has forwarded to the Councils of Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
