The world fame dancing legend of Pakistan Nahid Sidiqui is scheduled to perform on Friday at 6.30 pm at Islamabad Club under the auspices of Pakistan National Council of the Arts.
The event is a part of series titled "Mehfil" aimed at projection, promotion and perpetuation of national cultural heritage and the soft and enlightened image of the country at home and abroad. Nahid Sidiqui is one of the finest Kathak dancers and choreographers in the world. Her work has been recognised and acclaimed internationally.
She has personally contributed enormously to the growth and accessibility of Kathak through efforts like being the first South Asian artist to start Kathak classes at the Bharatya Vidya Bhavan in London and introducing Kathak into the curriculum at the University of Surrey.
Nahid's creations have been original and ground breaking lending traditional and contemporary techniques extending Kathak's repertory and developing it as a universal vocabulary. Nahid living in England for almost 20 years and her work has received numerous accolades in Britain and around the world, including Pakistan's highest artistic merit, "Pride of Performance."
