Capital Development Authority (CDA) will soon develop new Industrial Estate at Sector I-17 to meet the increasing demand of the area. This was stated by the CDA chairman Kamran Lashari, at a meeting with the president and members of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).
He was accompanied by CDA Members Engineering, Planning and Estate, Directors Estate and Roads. He said the proposed Industrial Estate in sector I-17 would be developed soon where more industries could be established and the sectors I-9 and I-10 would be shifted to the new site.
The CDA chief said the tenders would soon be floated for the construction and repair of roads in the industrial area and assured speedy completion of the project.
He said CDA would provide land for mosque and dispensary, to be constructed for the welfare of the workers. The ICCI President Nasir Khan, lauded the initiative of the government and CDA for allocating the sector for rapid industrialisation in the country.
He said the new arrangement would create more job-opportunities and promote exports. He also hoped that shifting of industries from I-9 and I-10 sectors would also help control environmental pollution in the residential areas. Nasir Khan emphasised that CDA should earmark a piece of land for setting up a Businessman Club by the ICCI. The membership of Islamabad Club is becoming difficult and there is a greater need for a separate club for the business community of Islamabad, he added.
