The ginning factories in Punjab and Sindh are still receiving seed-cotton (phutti), as 473,268 bales arrived during fortnight ending on January 15, according the report released by PCGA here on Friday.
According to the statement of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA), up to January 15, 11.55 million bales have been received against last year''s arrivals of 11.66 million bales, showing a decrease of 0.90 percent. The arrivals up to December 31, 2006 amounted to 11.082 million bales.
Of total arrivals of 11.55 million bales, 81,350 bales were sold to exporters and 9.46 million to textile millers, whereas stocks of 2.6 million bales remained unsold. Ginning factories in Punjab received 9.3 million bales cotton, showing an increase of 1.21 percent, while no more cotton arrived in Sindh ginning factories, the statement said.
The arrivals in factories of Multan, Lodhran, Khanewal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Vehari, Kasur, T T Singh, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan decreased while there was increase in Sargodha Faisalabad, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara, Jhang, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Rajanpur and Bahawalpur, the statement said.
