District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Sialkot Rizwan Ullah Baig has said that necessary arrangements were being given final touches for maintaining Iqbal Manzil Sialkot (the birth place of Allama Iqbal).
Talking to reporters here on Friday evening he added that under the programme special efforts would be made for preserving Iqbal Manzil into its original shape as well as interior decoration. Rizwan Baig said that services of experts and interior decorators were being acquired for maintaining this national monument.
The main concept of this programme was to preserve the Iqbal Manzil into its unique shape and give it true status of national monument, he said. Rizwan ullah Baig said the work on this project would be undertaken within a week.
The district co-ordination officer further disclosed that Sialkot Engineering University would be developed on 500 acres of land and it was being developed near Motorway.
The proposed university he said was being developed in collaboration of Swedish government, which would not only caters the needs and requirements of local industry but also provide wide opportunities of higher education to the students of Sialkot and other districts. The DCO revealed that initial work on the university had started and its stone laying ceremony would be held soon. More than Rs 450 millions were being spent on the construction of 122 roads in the district and this construction work would be completed by June this year, he disclosed.
