PIA Chairman and CEO Tariq Kirmani honoured and awarded cash prizes to four PIA employees--one Aircraft Engineer, one Pax Services Officer, one Security Guard, and one Baggage Attendant--in a simple ceremony held in his office at the PIA Headquarters on Thursday, January 18, 2007.
PIA acknowledged the honesty, sense of responsibility and integrity of all of them, namely Pax Services Officer Abdul Quyyum, and Bagage Attendant Aleemullah, who found and returned a handbag containing $10,240 and jewellery worth Rs 2.5 million belonging to a passenger, Mrs Rubina Ansari, who had already left the airport. She was contacted by them and the belongings were safely returned.
Besides Cash Award, as a token of appreciation, their Citation read: "Your professional and exemplary attitude is highly commendable." Similarly, two other award winners were Jawed Mateen, Aircraft Engineer--whose timely rectification of Inertial Navigation Unit test station of Beoing 747 aircraft saved the airline lots of money--and Maqbool Ahmed, Security Guard, who found Rs 100,000 lying on the floor of an aircraft after the passengers had disembarked, and duly deposited the same with the PIA cashier on duty.-PR
