Prime Minister of Canadian province Ontario, Dalton McGuinity leading a delegation reached Wagha Border here on Sunday. Punjab Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, members of provincial cabinet, Chief Secretary Punjab, Salman Siddique and other senior officials welcomed the distinguished guests.
The delegation was presented a guard of honour by a contingent of Rangers. The chief minister introduced the provincial ministers and secretaries to the delegates.
Talking to the Prime Minister McGuinity and journalists at Wagha border the chief minister said that the relations between Pakistan and Canada are based on sound foundations. This will strengthen further with the passage of time. He said that practical efforts would be made to promote cooperation between Canadian technology and other sectors. He said that Pakistan and Canada are making joint efforts with complete harmony in global peace.
He said that Ontario is the biggest province of Canada where millions of Pakistanis play their due role in education, health, trade and other sectors. He said that economics and trade cooperation between both the countries would further enhance in future. He said that solid efforts are being made with regard to peace and social development.
Prime Minister Dalton McGuinity said that he was deeply impressed with the enthusiastic welcome. He said that Pakistanis living in Canada are peaceful and responsible citizens.
He said that opportunities of cooperation between Pakistan and Canada in economic sector would be fully utilised .he also appreciated the atmosphere of Lahore.
Earlier, distinguished guests were accorded warm welcome at Wagha border. On the occasion, the students presented bouquets and flags of both the countries were hoisted. Prime Minister McGuinity also met children wearing regional dresses. The Canadian delegation also comprised minister of small industries, Harinder Takher.
