The first day of the month of Muharram Sunday marked the start of a series of Muhurram Majalis at different Imambargahs and private houses by the Isna Ashri community along with sermons of peace and sectarian harmony.
In Karachi, Muhurram Majalis were held at many places and all proceedings were peaceful.
In the city maximum alert by the security agencies and regular patrolling by the security forces highlighted the efforts by the administration to maintain good law and order situation in the city. No untoward incident was reported from any part of the city while both Sunni and Shia Ulema urged complete peace and harmony during the month of Muhurram.
