Punjab government failed to attain the support of required number of Nazimeen to bring a no-trust motion against Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan Jatoi, District Nazim Muzaffargarh in spite of using police and revenue staff ruthlessly.
Raja Basharat Ali Minister for Local Bodies and Finance, Minister Hasnain Dreshak, eleven parliamentary secretary, four Tehsil Nazimeen with the collaboration of Police tried their best to win over the support of maximum number of Nazimeen, under the instruction of Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi but they managed to acquire the support of only 76 councillors/Nazimeen while they required at least 95 members of District Assembly.
On Sunday, a meeting of members was convened to show the strength of Pakistan Muslim League-Q supported member which was attended by Malik Rabbani Khar Ex-MNA father of Hina Rabbani, State Minister, Syed Abdullah Shah father of Haroon Minister for Livestock, Dr Tanveer Ahmed brother of Shahid Jamil Qureshi Minister of State. During the meeting Abdullah Shah threatened the councillors for dire consequence if they changed their loyalties in favour of District Nazim Qayyum Khan Jatoi, upon this majority of member infuriated and they retaliated in same coin.
Nawabzada Iftikhar Ahmed Khan, former Tehsil Nazim and younger son of Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan asked Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to convene a meeting of all MNAs, MPAs, and District Nazim of Muzaffargarh to resolve the issue amicably and politically and he should earn bad name by bringing a no-confidence motion against a PPP-backed Nazim.
Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan Jatoi, District Nazim said that he had still enjoyed the support of 58 members who had agreed to lay down their lives for the cause of democracy while government had used its all tactics to win the support of the member but it could attain the support of only 70 member (however Abdullah Shah claimed the support of 76 members). He said that it is a crushing defeat of eleven parliamentary secretaries, two minister of states, one provincial minister, four Tehsil Nazimeen and they should accept their defeat and now they should support him for strengthening the existing system which was introduced by General Pervez Musharraf.
