Sindh Minister for Health Syed Sardar Ahmed has said that fives major cities of Sindh would be linked to 'Telemedicine System' in order to provide better healthcare facilities in rural and urban areas.
He said this while presiding over a meeting convened here on Sunday to finalise the recommendations for the E-Health Project. The health minister said that provision of better healthcare facilities to the people of Sindh were among the top priorities of the present government.
Syed Sardar Ahmed said that the government was establishing healthcare units in the province under this system where hospitals were being provided with better facilities.
He said that the Telemedicine System would initially be introduced in five districts for which survey work had started, adding in first phase, Nawabshah, Hyderabad, Larkana, Badin and Sukkur would be linked to this system.
He said that a summary in this connection would soon be sent to Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim after which MoU would be signed between the Sindh government and E-Health.
The minister said that the Sindh government would provide all the funds required for this project while administration work would be performed by the E-Health.
He said that the standing committee comprising E-Health and the government representatives would be constituted to run this project and carry out monitoring, evaluation and checks.
The Secretary Health Dr Noshad Sheikh, Dr Zakiuddin Ahmed and Additional Secretaries Majid and Manzoor Memon were also present at the meeting.
