British Airways appealed to a mediator on Monday to help with talks with labour unions to avert a planned strike by cabin crew at the end of the month.
BA said it had asked Acas, the British conciliation service, to help prevent a proposed three-day strike by cabin crew members of the Transport and General Workers Union (TGWU) to protest sickness leave, pay and staffing conditions.
Shares in BA dived 1.70 percent to 535.25 pence on the London stock exchange, after earlier falling as low as 530.75 pence. London's FTSE 100 index of top shares, on which the group lists, rose by 0.45 percent to 6,265.50 points.
