A proclaimed offender was killed and another injured in an encounter with police in nearby village Kotla on late Monday night, while two of the accused managed to escape in the darkness.
DSP Sangla Hill circle Haji Arshad Sindhu at a press conference said that working on a tip-off, a Saddar police team conducted a raid in the village where dacoits were hiding.
The outlaws opened fire on the police team, in retaliation one criminal Naveed Butt was killed and another identified as Yaseen received bullet injuries and was captured by the police.
Two gang members fled and escaped from the scene. Police said the accused left behind a klashnikov, five carbines and a big stock of ammunition. The police said the gang, which had terrorised the region for long was wanted by the police for dacoities, kidnappings, murders and other heinous crimes in Faisalabad, Jaranwala, Khurrianwala, Gojra and Sangla Hill areas.
