The Punjab government is working on a comprehensive public private partnership policy to create a conducive business friendly environment where the existing and prospective entrepreneurs would be able to prosper and progress.
Secretary Planning & Development, Sohail Ahmed while briefing a visiting group of students of John F. Kennedy School of Government-Howard University USA said that Punjab government is executing reforms programme in health and education sector to improve services for the people.
Focus of government policy and strategy is making the province fully literate, educated and prosperous. The reforms introduced in different sectors envisage creating one million sustainable job opportunities a year, he added.
Secretary P&D appraised the delegation that long-term and short-term policies are being executed under Punjab Chief Minister Vision 2020. The growth target for the province has been set at 7-8 percent and all out efforts are being made to achieve this target. Steps are being taken to improve investment climate through incentives, reduction of cost of doing business and reducing the infrastructure deficits.
Investment is being sought in setting up economic zones, industrial parks and improving the communication infrastructure, he added. He said that 402 technical education institutions have been set up in the province to strengthen the skilled workers base whereas 50 more schools are in pipeline in current annual development programme.
He said 75 more technical institutions would be set up in the next ADP. He said that Punjab Agricultural Marketing Company (Pamco) has been set up to improve the marketing system of the agro-produce in the province.
