Secretary Housing and Physical Planning Punjab, Khalid Sultan has urged on Wasa to expedite its institutional development process on Rawalpindi Environmental Improvement Project (REIP). He was addressing a meeting held on Tuesday to review the pace of development here in the conference room of Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA).
District Nazim, Raja Javed Ikhlas, Nazim Rawal Town Sheikh Rashid Shafique, DCO Irfan Elahi, Project Director Syed Aslam Ali Sabzwari, DG RDA Brigadier Pervez Mehmood Khan, (Retd) MD WASA Brigadier Noorul Hasan, (Retd) Director Water Supply, Chaudhry Nasir Ahmed, Project Consultants, Arif Usmani, Riaz Akhtar and others were present on occasion.
Provincial Secretary said this project is linked with the performance of Wasa. He directed Wasa to launch operation against the illegal water connections and defaulters to meet the recovery target.
He also directed Wasa to conduct water consumers survey as soon as possible while it should impose ban on issuance of new water connections so that REIP could be completed within give timeframe. He urged on Water and Sanitation Agency to follow the directives issued by the Chairman planning and Development Board regarding this project.
He instructed the Project Director of REIP to monitor the working of the project consultants. He said delay toward the project consultants could cause delay in the project, which he clarified, could not be tolerated at any cost.
Raja Javed Ikhlas, District Nazim said that the project is being implemented according to the guidelines of Chairman planning and development board. He urged project consultants to accelerate their work because it was the need of the hour.
