The Vice-President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Zubair Tufail, has asked the exporters to take initiative for exploring the Thai market to bring the trade balance near equilibrium between the two countries.
Speaking as chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of 'Thailand Exhibition 2007' here on Wednesday, he said that the trade balance between Pakistan and Thailand was more in favour of Thailand, and urged the local manufacturers and exporters to enhance the range of products being exported, along with value-addition.
Minister Counsellor (Commercial) at Thai Embassy, Dhaka, Kanyarat Vongskul, said that trade balance between the two countries could be maintained and, for that, trade shows could play a vital role.
She said that to create and meet global demand, the Department of Export Promotion, Thai Ministry of Commerce was promoting a favourable image of Thailand and Thai products and services among importers, buyers and consumers all over the world and especially in Pakistan that was an important strategy for building long-term viability into the Thai export profile.
"The exhibition is supposed to be a meeting forum, open to all interested traders and importers and top-end consumers and the public at large. It is a good prospect that the exhibition will be able to welcome more than 50,000 visitors from all walks of life," she remarked.
Vongskul also thanked the government of Pakistan. The three-day single-country exhibition titled 'Thailand Exhibition 2007' is being organised by Department of Export Promotion, Thai Ministry of Commerce, and managed by Thai Trade Centre, Dhaka, in association with Thai Embassy in Islamabad and Thai Consulate, Karachi. The show will continue from January 24 to 26, 2007.
