Traders of Multan on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration against restrictions of pillion riding, at the call of Chamber of small traders. They condemned the police and administration, describing the ban on pillion riding as a cruel and illogical step to check the terrorist activities.
Trader leaders Khalid Qureshi, Khawaja Muhammad Aslam, Jaffar Shah and Sharful Haq alleged that police were fleecing the citizens by extorting bribe in the guise of pillion riding as 60 citizens were sent jail after taking their motor cycles into custody.
They said the ban on pillion ridding had hit their business activities. They threatened to siege the police stations if the restriction was not withdraw or any trader was arrested. They demanded Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi to lift the ban.
