There is no proposal under consideration to open American visa counters at Karachi in the near future, Acting American Consul General Ms Kay Anske informed business community.
Speaking at a meeting with members of managing committee of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday she said that American visa seekers have to approach Islamabad for the purpose of visa.
She said that during 2006 over 66,900 Pakistanis have applied for American visa out of them 75 percent applications were approved for granting visa. She said that she would instruct the commercial officers of US Embassy to remain in close contact with KCCI.
