The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) will make arrangements for benefiting from the services of senior professors in the fields of medicine and surgery and provision of 100 percent free medicines to indoor patients in district and tehsil level hospitals being run by it.
District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood informed this while reviewing treatment facilities being extended to indoor patients at Mayo Hospital, the largest hospital in Asia, here on Wednesday.
The DCO Mian Muhammad Ijaz, town Nazims Tariq Sana Bajwa and Mian Javed Ali, EDO Health Dr Inam Ul Haq and medical superintendents of district as well as Tehsil headquarter hospitals also accompanied the Nazim during his visit to Mayo Hospital.
Mian Amer disclosed that the CDGL would also replicate other reforms introduced by the Mayo Hospital administration with a view to improving its own healthcare facilities besides ensuring optimum utilisation of existing infrastructure.
In the first phase, Mian Muhammad Munshi District Headquarter Hospital, Bund Road, would be selected and a model and specialised treatment facilities would be provided there for the local community, he added. He told that Executive District Officer (Health) Dr Inam Ul Haq had been directed for finalising details with the Medical Superintendent of Mayo Hospital Dr Fayyaz Ranjha for a closer co-operation between Mayo Hospital and the district hospitals. Briefing the district Nazim and other visitors on this occasion, Medical Superintendent of Mayo Hospital Dr Fayaz Ranjha told that absolutely free of cost medicines were being provided to all the in door patients at Mayo Hospitals.
