As many as 2243 students have completed training during the first phase of Technical Special Training Programme (TSTP) from 12 institutes run by the Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) in Faisalabad.
Tasaddaq Randhawa, Principal, Government Apprentices Training Center (GATC), Sargodha road told APP here on Wednesday that the institutes had provided training with the financial assistance of Tevta in automobile, mechanical, civil, electronics and electrical engineering, in addition to four trades for women.
He said that training was imparted in 24 trades with the aim to provide trained manpower in various sectors to arrest unemployment.
In the first phase of TSTP, 201 students attended the course of industrial fitter, 194 industrial electrician and 169 were trained in motor winding, while 30 students each were admitted in the trades of masonry, technician, plumber, shuttering carpenter and steel fixer. Stipends were also given to the students during the training programme. Meanwhile, 100 students completed training under the Government apprentices training center (GATC) in auto electrician and automobile mechanics during the first phase of TSTP launched by Tevta.
