District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood has directed Lahore Development Authority (LDA) officials to expedite work on developing two new housing schemes for low income groups in the city besides preparing large number of 3 Marla plots for widows, orphans and the destitute.
He was chairing a meeting to review pace of work on the two newly proposed housing schemes, here on Saturday. Director General LDA Raja Muhammad Abbas, Managing Director TEPA Brigadier Naveed Mushtaq (Retd), Managing Director Wasa Nadeem Hassan Asif, Director Administration Chaudhry Abdul Hameed and other concerned officials attended the meeting.
Mian Amer called for allocating big chunks of land for setting up new four colleges, two each for boys and girls in these schemes as well as for reserving more land for public utility sites and establishing commercial areas in view of future requirements.
Electricity supply lines should be laid under ground and a water treatment plant should also be included in the planning of these schemes, he added. He further directed LDA officials for pursuing a more aggressive auction policy of commercial plats situated in various localities so that revenue thus generated could be utilised for uplift of the city.
He further directed for posting required number of police personnel besides other staff in the estate management department of LDA with a view to ejecting illegal occupants from precious official land and safeguarding LDA's property.
