Sindh Government is taking steps on priority basis for the enhancement of literacy rate in the province. The Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim stated this here on Saturday. He was talking to a group of 15 students from John F Kennedy School of Harvard University who called on him at the Chief Minister House here.
Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim pointed out that distribution of free textbooks among students has been initiated in the province. He further stated that for encouraging the females to acquire education, monthly scholarship has been started.
The Chief Minister said under the leadership of President Pervez Musharraf, the future of Pakistan is very bright and that soon it would be included among the developed countries of the world. He also apprised the visiting students of the ongoing mega projects in the province.
The visiting students appreciated the steps that have been taken by the Government of Sindh for the betterment of education. Later, the Chief Minister presented traditional gift of Ajrak and Sindhi cap to the visiting students.
The students of the Kennedy School of Harvard University on Saturday also visited the City Campus of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi. They spent some time, with IBA faculty and students and discussed academic as well as other related matters.
The IBA and Harvard students also had an informal session where they exchanged views and ideas on various subjects. The Dean and Director of the IBA, Danishmand, also hosted a lunch for the visiting students.
