The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) committee on the capital office building has made certain amendments and asked the Zaheer Associates, an architect designer, to present the final design in couple of weeks for the consideration of the executive committee likely to meet in March.
FPCCI president Shaikh Tanvir Ahmed, former president and Businessmen Panel co-chairman, Iftikhar Ahmed Malik, Shaikh Farooq, Azhar Saeed Butt, Shaikh Maqbool, Jamil Naz and Shaikh Aslam attended the meeting.
FPCCI will spend Rs 300 million on the construction of the capital office. It plans to make the capital office a modern facility for FPCCI trade bodies, besides providing the facility to the upcountry chambers and trade bodies for communication with the authorities. Shaikh Tanvir Ahmed told the meeting that after the approval of the design by the executive body and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) the construction work would start in next few months.
Keeping in view the importance of FPCCI, President General Pervez Musharraf had allotted a valuable plot in G/8 sector in 2001-02, for its capital office.
The FPCCI capital office will be completed in three phases. It will have spacious halls for holding seminars and conferences. Ten-storey building of the FPCCI capital office will have modern facilities for media and delegates. The FPCCI would rent out two floors of the building to generate income for meeting its expenditures.
Addressing the meeting, Shaikh Tanvir termed the construction of the FPCCI capital office as an important agenda of his team to provide the best facilities to the member of chambers and trade bodies for meetings in Islamabad. He said the capital building would cater to the requirement of the upcountry trade bodies, in particular, and others in general.
The FPCCI president directed the committee to ensure start of construction of the capital office as early as possible. He said sufficient funds were available for the construction of the capital office in Islamabad.
