Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will be displaying computerised electoral rolls in near future for seeking amendments and objections. Secretary Election Commission Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad on Saturday said data entry process for the computerised electoral rolls is in progress through more than 1,200 data entry operators at six workstations.
"The draft rolls shall be displayed in the near future for inviting claims and objections before final publication," he said talking to a high powered delegation of HELP Commission from Washington D.C which called on him.
Accompanied by Ms Julie Koenen-Grant, Director Governance and Democracy Unit of USAID and Bryan D. Hunt Principal Officer, US Consulate General, Lahore, the chief of the staff of the Commission visited the Electoral Rolls data entry centres.
Dr Staffan Darnolf, Director, IFES, Pakistan and Mike Yard, Senior Voter Registration Expert, IFES, Pakistan were also present on the occasion. The delegation was briefed about the ongoing process of computerisation of electoral rolls.
Kanwar Dilshad said as per direction of the Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan, all steps are being taken for preparation of accurate and credible electoral rolls that is pre-requisite for the conduct of fair, free and transparent elections. "The Election Commission of Pakistan is committed to prepare accurate and credible electoral rolls based on fresh data gathered through door to door enumeration," he said.
Dilshad said to manage the country-wide electoral rolls, a computerised system, based on the state-of-the-art technology is being implemented through our implementation partner KalSoft Joint Venture. This system will be used during the forth-coming general elections and subsequent elections.
The Secretary said globally respected IFES, working on behalf of USAID, is assisting the Election Commission in its plan for enhancing abilities of the Election Commission and conduct elections effectively and efficiently.

The HELP Commission delegation and the Chief of the Staff "HELP Commission" highly appreciated the efforts of the Election Commission to prepare credible countrywide electoral. She was impressed with the standard of work being carried out at data entry centres and found it to be at par with international standard and other advanced countries including United States.
