All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has called upon India to bring change in its attitude vis-à-vis resolution of Kashmir problem. Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, Chairman APHC told newsmen, here on Saturday that Pakistan by holding consultation with APHC leadership has taken a right step in right direction aimed at resolution of Kashmir problem.
This move will help exert pressure on Indian leadership for the solution of this outstanding problem. He reiterated that involvement of Kashmiri leadership is a must to find out amicable solution of Kashmir problem, therefore, they may also be included in India-Pakistan talks aimed at resolution of this outstanding issue.
He stated that he would strive for forming three Working Groups of Kashmiri leaders in Srinager and Muzaffarabad to work for the resolution of this problem. Nevertheless, contacts between Muzaffarabad and Srinager are welcoming and Kashmiri leaders in both parts of Kashmir have agreed to continue consultation in future.
Answering a question, he said, although India has started realising Kashmir as a problem but still a lot is to be done to find out amicable solution of this problem.
He said that President Pervez Musharraf during a meeting with the APHC delegation had given assurance that Pakistan would not accept any solution of Kashmir problem that is unacceptable to Kashmiris.
To another question, Mirwaiz said that India is recognising Kashmir as a problem; therefore it was holding formal and informal talks with Islamabad. Answering another question, he said that there were some elements in Kashmir who were opponent of talks. However, he said that those opposing negotiations, at present, would soon join the round of talks being held for the resolution of Kashmir problem.
It may be mentioned that APHC delegation comprising Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, Abdul Ghani Butt and Bilal Lone, during this visit held a series of meetings with the Pakistani leadership including President Musharraf, Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri, Kashmiris leaders and representatives of different opposition parties.
Mirwaiz said the APHC leadership wanted the Indian political parties' support for resolution of Kashmir issue. The Indian politicians, both in government and opposition, should help the APHC to ensure Kashmiris' participation in the process of composite dialogue, he said. 'We will hold meeting with them and find out future strategy', he said.
To another query, he said that President Musharraf's four-point agenda was a good proposal; hence India must respond it in a positive manner. Answering another question, Mirwaiz said that the APHC delegation held talks with the Pakistani political which remained very fruitful. He said that the Pakistani parties wanted resolution of Kashmir issue through talks.
