The newly constituted 60 member non-governmental 'Youth Parliament Pakistan' has demanded of the government to seek Youth Parliament's input on the draft youth policy which is pending with federal cabinet for its approval.
The Youth Parliament, comprising young men from all over Pakistan has been sponsored by PILDAT to inculcate democratic values in the youth and promote culture of tolerance and dialogue. The gathering welcomed Federal Minister for Youth Affairs. Sumaira Malik's statement that her Ministry would seek Youth's Parliament's debate and input on the draft Youth Policy before its approval.
The Youth Parliament has been debating various social, political and economic ills prevailing in the country and put forward their proposals for engaging the Pakistan youth in more constructive, gainful and visionary pursuits during the past five days.
Some members proposed that instead of disbursement of Zakat Funds the government should set up industries in the rural areas for employment of trained, educated and skilled young men. The members of the youth parliament also adopted a unanimous resolution to condemn terrorist acts and suicide attacks on peaceful people. The parliament will continue its deliberation on Sunday.
