Federal Minister for Textile Industry, Chaudhary Mushtaq Ali Cheema has said that government is fully aware of electricity outage and the water vision of President General Pervez Musharraf is the only long term solution at this issue.
However, it is the duty of every patriotic Pakistani to support 'Water Vision' in addition to building public pressure for immediate construction of new dams. He was talking to journalists after attending a dinner hosted by Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) here late Friday night.
He said that shortage of electricity has forced Wapda to resort to load shedding. However, government was trying its optimum to introduce a collaborated and comprehensive load management system in the country to overcome the sufferings of people in addition to ensuring the wheel of industry keeps moving.
About textile issues, the minister said that government has deputed two international consultancy firms Girzi of Switzerland and Werner of Germany to conduct studies on benchmarking of the efficiencies of various segments of textile sector in addition to evaluating the cost of doing business in our regional countries.
Girzi has completed its study and it would be discussed immediately after Ashura holidays. Werner is giving final touches to its study in cost of doing business and is expected to submit its report within next couple of weeks. To a question, the minister said that textile strategy could be amended in the light of these studies and to make our textile products competitive in international markets.
