An important football match of qualifying round for Beijing Olympics would be played between Pakistan and Singapore here at Qayyum Football Stadium of Peshawar Sports Complex on February 14. Arrangements in this connection are in full swing to make it a successful event.
This was announced by Syed Zahir Ali Shah, President Sarhad Football Association and Director Marketing Pakistan Football Federation, Sardar Naveed Haider while addressing a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club (PPC) on Saturday.
The provincial president of the federation said different administrative committees like security and transport committees had been constituted under his chairmanship. The members of the committees include Mohammad Saeed Khan, Ilyas Ahmad, Sanaullah Babar, Waqar Maroof, Basit Kamal, Zahidul Khair, Mudasir Ali Shah and Amjad Aziz Malik. The names of the members of the sub-committees would be announced later.
He said that tight security measures would be taken during the match. The entry of the football fans to the stadium would be free while publicity banners of the match would be displayed throughout the city. In the light of tight security measures the concerned people would be issued special accreditation cards.
Director Marketing, Pakistan Football Federation said that both teams would arrive at Peshawar on February 12 and would practice in the stadium on the next day. Pakistan Television would live telecast the match.
