Wasim Akhtar later said that in the wake of Saturday's blast in Peshawar, the security measures had been further tightened in Sindh especially in Karachi. He directed senior police officials to make the security measures further effective.
The adviser pointed out that special security steps had been undertaken for Ashura on the route of main procession and the places of Majalis.
He said that the traffic arrangements in the metropolis had also been completed. He said that police personnel in uniform and plain clothes had beep deployed on the entry and exit points of the city as well as railway stations to meet any eventuality and keep an eye on miscreants.
He said that security arrangements had also been finalised for mosques, imambargahs and places of congregations. The adviser said that the leaves of police officers and jawans had been cancelled and they had been asked to report for duty.
He said that on Ashura four helicopters would perform reconnaissance duty in the province. Wasim Akhtar on the occasion appealed to Ulema from various schools of thought and people to forge complete unity and understanding and foster the spirit of brotherhood.
The Ulema while appreciating the steps taken by the government for the maintenance of law and order assured the Adviser of their full cooperation.
The adviser vehemently condemned the bomb blasts in Peshawar and Islamabad and expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of lives.
He said that terrorists wanted to mar the peace in the country by trying to pit brother against brother but the Ulema from various schools of thought as well as the people had frustrated their evil designs.
