Malik Mohammad Nawaz, the acting Prime Minister of Azad Jammu Kashmir said that awareness programs about health should continue to protect masses from various diseases.
He said it is not only the duty of the government to arrange programs, lectures, or seminars for the protection of health but also responsibility of NGOs working in the society to disseminate information regarding disease.
Speaking at a seminar on 'Awareness on Aids' under the aegis of United Nation Population Fund (UNFPA) on Sunday, the AJK acting PM said the government has allocated a big budget for health and education to provide all facilities to the people of the liberated territory.
He added the government has taken number of steps to speed up the process of health and education projects in AJK to achieve the targets.
The seminar was presided over by Advisor to PM on Kashmir Council, Sardar Farooq Sikander.
DHO Kotli, Dr Shabir Ejaz, District programme officer UNFPA, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad Awan, Provincial co-ordinator UNFPA, Punjab, Dr Jamil Chaudhry, Social protection co-ordinator Rawalakot, Farhat Abbas, Project officer Health, Khurshid Alam and others also addressed the seminar.
On the occasion, the PM urged the national and international NGOs to play positive role for creating awareness regarding aids, hepatitis and other deadly diseases.
Advisor to PM on Kashmir Affairs, Sardar Farooq Sikander suggested that printed material should be distributed among the masses and informative topic be included in the curriculum.
Programme officer, UNFPA, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad Awan said UNFPA is focusing on promoting primary education, environmental stability, mother's health, awareness on HIV/Aids.
